What are the differences between commercial tablets and consumer tablets?


Consumer Tablets usually have a 1 year life cycle. Commercial tablets usually have a 5 years or more life cycle that allows developers to develop according to the hardware requirements to stabilize their software on the hardware as well as supplying to the same project with the same product in this time frame. Commercial Tablets are more focused on providing a stable platform with non-changing components to support long term projects.




What are the advantages of a commercial tablet?


The advantages of a commercial tablet are long support cycle, higher quality components, designed for stationary applications without having to produce another mount, customizable, customer’s bootup logo and can remain in the same firmware version for every batch of order. Option for OEM.




Why should I choose Glory Star?


Glory Star started in 1984 and has over 30 years of experience in the electronics industry. How to choose between Windows and Android?


This would depend on the requirements of your project. If the deployment is smaller and requires accessories like barcode, MSR that doesn’t have drivers for Android, then Windows would be the option. Although the downside for Windows is the cost of the license fee as well as its constant update. Android’s cost is lower, however, there are more development time involved for driver applications. In a nutshell, if the quantity of the project is there- Android would be the option. If the deployment has a lower quantity, then Windows would be the option.




What are the benefits of open API products?


Able to utilize i/o from the device such as USB, RS232, RS485, GPIO, etc to communicate with third party modules. Also to utilize features that has already developed from staros onto third party applications




Does Glory Star provide App solutions?


Yes, Glory Star’s Nebula, JARVIS series of tablets includes a license free STAROS app that allows you to lockdown apps, websites and videos. We also have StarTouch that is designed for people without coding skills to make their own touch contents.




Can I download apps from Play store with Glorystar tablets?


No, Glorystar tablet does not support Google Play store since the certification only supports tablets with mobility and a screen size below 15”. Not using the certification and playstore is actually better for GS applications since it provides more flexibility in terms of software and increase processing power since google play certify devices has more embedded applications and runs more items underneath.




Are Glorystar products including warranty?


Yes. Our products have a standard 1 year warranty and for partners 2 years. Please check the warranty section for more details.




How do I place an order?

What to expect after placing an order?


Pro-Forma Invoice After you placed an order, you will receive a pro-forma invoice within 24 hours (except weekends). Deposit/ Full Payment Upon approval of your payment for your order, the order will be in Production. Production time includes obtaining the parts, assembly or build time and shipping preparation.





Is there an email/phone number I can call for support?


We have a ticketing system. Please sign in and submit a ticket and we will take care of you.




What do I do with a defective device?


If there is a defective device, you can first submit a ticket to our website, and our technical staff will try to assist you. If the unit is really defaulted and could not be fixed at your location, it would then need to be returned to either our California location or Hong Kong office for repair, after repair, we would send it back to you.




How to turn on/off device


For the new generation of the Nebula tablets, the back button at the back have been changed to ON/OFF button, therefore, you can turn the tablet off from the back button.

How can I obtain marketing material(s)?


You would need to be one of our partners to obtain marketing materials. Please send mail to sales@glorystargroup.com to discuss the details.




Is there a warehouse in the US?


Yes, we have a warehouse in the US and we can send our products from California to any locations within the US within 2-4 business days.




Do you ship only from Asia or also within the US?


For small batch orders, we ship from the US, but for larger batches, we will be shipping from Hong Kong or China.




How long does shipping take?


If the products are in our warehouses, the ship time will be within 7-10 days. If there are special requirements and modifications required from our stock units, it would usually take 14-20 days. Our normal production time is 35-40 days. The estimated ship date for your order will be released within 7 days after receiving payment, otherwise, you will be receiving an email from us.

Security

Is there an option to store the data of people checked? If yes, how far back?


This is currently in development with TAURI Cloud.




Will the database of employee/customer information be stored in the tablet or server?


If you have registered your employee/ customer's face in TAURI, then, it would have their photo locally stored on TAURI. If you have not store any data on TAURI, it would not store anything inside. However, if you choose to purchase or use TAURI Cloud, the information of your employee/ customer will be in TAURI Cloud.




If on Monday you scan on kiosk #1, on Tuesday you scan again on kiosk #1 – your information would be stored so it will recognize you and on Wednesday you scan on kiosk #3 – does it have the information from kiosk #1 to identify you?


The information will need to be store on a server or cloud to be recognized on the same data base. If there are no TAURI Cloud being used, each TAURI would only have its own data base and not cross check.




How can the imported photos be identified?


The photos correlate with the staff profile you assign them to. There is a specific way to name the .jpeg files. It should be e.g. Dennis-Marketing.jpg (The persons name- department.jpg)




How would the data/files be encrypted during transmission?


Yes, there will be encryption between cloud and local tablet transfer.





Is there an email/phone number I can call for support?

Performance

My country is very hot in the summer, does this impact performance?


You are able to manually calibrate TAURI in TAURI settings and going to develope option to select manual or auto calibration.




How accurate is the Infrared Sensor?


+/- 0.3 degree Celsius




What is the recommended detection distance?


0.5 to 1 meter




How long does it take to scan?


within 1 second




How many people can it detect one time?


1 person at a time.




If there are groups of people trying to enter, will it slow-down the line of people entering?


Yes, it would, people would still need to enter one by one.




Is the unit able to detect people of different heights (e.g. children, adults 3’ to 6.5’)?


There’s a visible sensor and a camera that will show your face through the LCD screen. From there you can see your head and also temperature.




Is there a specified height the product should be placed?


There is a camera in the tablet; as long as you can see your face in the screen, it will show.




How about people with head scarf? What point of the head is measured.


Need to place head within 0.5 meter from the sensor for accurate reading.




Are there any data/tests available regarding the accuracy of this unit?


The accuracy is at 0.3 degree Celsius which is provided by our component manufacturer located in Germany.




How many people per hour can pass through?


Around 1800 person per hour.




Is there a chance it will overheat?


It can get heated up upon long term use, but we have heat dissipation design to withstand this.




Is there a document from to explain that the measurement of the temperature is not affected by a person who just exercised or drank hot beverage (elevate body heat)?


No, the sensor detects actual physical temperature. Usually when this happens, you need to do an independent check with that person.




Does the device need a special configuration?


Right now it’s just plug and play, no special configuration required.




Is the temperature is affecteded by a person who just exercised or drank hot beverage (elevate body heat)?


The sensor only detects the current state of the body temperature, therefore, if they have exercised and their body heat have gone up from their normal temperature, TAURI would measure the current state of the body.




Can movies be shown on TAURI?


After TAURI 3.0 or above, there will be movies and play list being able to show when it detects no one is infront of TAURI.




Is it possible to show on dual screen?


When you connect TAURI through HDMI to another screen, both screens would show the same contents. Please note that this function is not on TAURI 7, since it does not have an HDMI.




How many records can it store?


Around 5000 faces photos can be stored.




Will an error message come up in case the sensor is not able to read the temperature correctly (e.g. person too far away / does not get captured, or temperature is not in a specific range)?


When a face is captured, there would be a green box stating TAURI has identified the face that is being scanned. If there are no green box around the faces, it means that the person is not being detected.




How to use TAURI integration feature?


Go to TAURI Settings, continously tap on TAURI logo, it would enter to developer option, on API, you can put your server URL in TAURI, it would send the temperature reading, mask status time and date log/ information sent to your designated server.




Can it work outside undercover?


TAURI is designed for indoor purposes and not for Outdoor, no direct sunlight should be pointed towards TAURI.




How to use TAURI integration feature?


Go to TAURI Settings, continously tap on TAURI logo, it would enter to developer option, on API, you can put your server URL in TAURI, it would send the temperature reading, mask status time and date log/ information sent to your designated server.




How do I setup door relay?





Can I print temperature check results and questionnaire answers on TAURI?


Yes, you can when TAURI is paired with a Glory Star approved printer, such as the Boca Lemur X.





Operation

How to go to TAURI settings?


Please press the middle of the TAURI Screen for at least 7 seconds until you see a box that asks you for the password. The default password is "0000".




Do we need an app/software with this?


We have a ready app that detects temperature and locks down through STAROS.




How’s the unit attached to the tablet?


VESA 100 x 100 or 75 x 75.




Is there a user interface that will be running on the device or is this just a hardware only solution?


Yes, it is a total solution of hardware, software and user interface.




How does the alert message work, is there display and sound too?


On the display screen, it would show the person’s face, the person’s current temperature, and when it runs a temperature higher than what you have set as normal, the tablet would have an alert sound made.




Does the devices need a special configuration?


Right now it’s just plug and play, no special configuration required.




How many langages does TAURI support?


On Version 2.02 or above, there are French, Japanese, German, Simple Chinese and Traditional Chinese additionally available.




Is it possible to show on dual screen?


Yes, after Sept 2020 orders, you can connect TAURI to a secondary monitor to display the same content as TAURI, however, there are no sound, only image.




During operation does the tablet need to be connected to the WIFI?


No it does not, it only needs to be connected to WIFI during the OTA ( over the air) update.




Is there a sleep mode on TAURI?


Right now it is at constant on, however there's a power button at the back that you can press that will black out the screen like cellphone.




How do I calibrate TAURI?


TAURI sensor has been calibrated with a thermal black body before shipment. If you need to calibrate, you can calibrate in TAURI, after entered to settings, continously tap on the TAURI Logo, and you will enter to a developer option, and you can select to auto calibrate or manual calibrate.




Can the tablet be portrait mounted?


Currently, TAURI is designed in landscape mode. But the new TAURI 7 will be in portrait mode.




During operation does the tablet need to be connected to the WIFI?


No it does not, it only needs to be connected to WIFI during the OTA ( over the air) update, or when you first set TAURI up and entering the time zone, you would need the WIFI connection.




What is the micro USB for?


Firmware update from PC or ADB to PC for development.

Firmware and Software

How to enter to STAROS?


Tap lower right corner of the screen 5-10 times and it would popup to ask you for a password. Default password is "0000" On the top, Unlock STAROS, password "0000".




How to change the default password in StarOS?


After entered to Staros, select unlock app setting, write your new password ( 4 digit only) on " unlock password".




Is there no possibility to save and record data and to access data from remote devices? Relevant data such as number of people checked, person’s picture, person’s temperature etc.


This feature will be launched in TAURI Cloud, which is in testing phase now and completed by end of 2020 to be launched.

Can I update the firmware?
